Gritty. Grounded. Heartfelt. A standout performer. These are the words that describe Australian country rock singer-songwriter, Will Day. Growing up in the small rural town of Goondiwindi, QLD and sewing his musical roots there has instilled a humble, dedicated work ethic and one that is destined to continue throughout his musical career.

Australia’s eastern seaboard has hosted the now Brisbane-based artist for many years as his star continues to rise in the country music scene. This modern-day performer has enjoyed an exciting start to his career and has achieved a swag of impressive milestones.

“In my opinion, Will Day is one of the most exciting young artists emerging in Australian country music today.  Personally, it has been a privilege to co-write and collaborate with him on a few songs.  With a great voice, songs to match and an energetic stage presence, I predict big things coming for Will and I know his name will be around for many years to come”

Country artist Troy Kemp

Will grew up listening to some of the great musical influences of our time on family road trips where his parents would play the likes of James Taylor, The Eagles and Cat Stevens. A pivotal turning point was discovering Keith Urban in his teenage years and it was then that Will decided that country music was where he needed to be. Other country influences followed including Alan Jackson and Garth Brooks before discovering the rich depth of talent we have here in Australia, artists such as Travis Collins. It’s from these artists, Will made country music his own.

Will’s early career offered releases such as Seasons, the award winning first single off his debut EP and was followed by multiple successful releases including ‘This Country Life’, ‘The Real World’ (co-written with Matt Scullion) which reached #1 on Australian Country Radio and in 2019, the summer anthem track ‘Here to Party’ which reached #23 on the major Music Network Hottest 50.

Will toured internationally to New Zealand in 2017 and was a finalist in three categories for the Independent Country Music Association Awards for which he won the fan voted ‘Most Popular EP’. That same year also saw Will win the Male Rising Star Award at the Southern Stars Independent Country Music Awards in Mildura, Victoria.

2021 proved to be a career defining year for Will, with the release of his debut album ‘Countrified’.  With highly successful singles ‘Countrified’ and ‘Simple Then’ (with Brooke Schubert), receiving high rotation adds on iHeartCountry, KIX Country, ABC Country and Woolworths Radio, ensured Top 10 Chart success on KIX Country, Top 5 success on the major Countrytown Chart and high rotation adds to CMT Australia.

‘Countrified’ delivered a perfect combination of high energy, foot stomping country rock tracks as well as heartfelt ballads such as ‘Rare Piece of Earth, a track written about Day’s connection to his hometown of Goondiwindii and emotive track, ‘Dear Dad’, (co-written with fellow country artist Hayley Jensen) which holds special meaning to Will and his family as a tribute to his late father who tragically passed away from brain cancer in 2007.

2022 will see a strong focus on touring nationwide including headlining shows and festivals, as well as a brand-new release ‘We Got This’ that has been produced by ARIA and Golden Guitar winning producer Matt Fell, due for release on July 29th.

Will has been described by peers in the country music industry as one of the hardest working artists they know. A definite crowd favourite can be put down to his vibrant and energetic stage presence. Will has opened for the likes of Morgan Evans, Shannon Noll, Icehouse, Diesel, The Black Sorrows, and The Viper Creek Band while also appearing at some of Australia’s most popular country music festivals, including Tamworth Country Music Festival, Groundwater Country Music Festival, Savannah in the Round, Winton Outback Festival, Round Up for CMC Rocks, Gympie Music Muster, Roma’s Easter in the Country, and Curdimurka Outback Ball in South Australia.

In recent years, Will has been steadily building a loyal fan base around the country. With a genuine gift of storytelling, combined with compelling vocals and the ability to connect with a crowd, Will Day is fast becoming one of Australia’s premier rising artists and one that will undoubtedly be around for many years to come.
